The zone may be 100 meters in diameter and may well have one or even several weedy "eating" or "drinking" or "resting" things in them. Need zones go away due to hunting pressure and they are not limited in size to a single weed or circular hoof print area you find. When your map turns bright pink from hunting pressure then you've killed too many. Somewhere between 9-15 if I remember correctly. I'm unsure how many kills made from a blind or stand will wipe out the need zone.

If you kill 3 or more animals (while hunting from the ground and not in a blind or stand) in the same need zone, the need zone will go away and it doesn't matter what species you killed, only the total. When only one animal is using a need zone weed and you kill it then the need zone weed patch goes away. This is the most confusing thing about this game. This example seems to suggest that I do since each zone was associated with one animal.Īlso if I spot an animal and it only shows "Traveling" with no need zone listed, does that mean I can harvest that animal without concern about eliminating a need zone?

By having only 1 animal associated with each zone in the cluster, this would indicate I should not have harvested any animals even though there were 4 together.Īlso I was told that I did not need to activate each need zone in a cluster. Why didn't I have one need zone with 4 animals associated with it. Two of the need zones went away, two remained. By continuing to "spot" the animals, eventually I had 4 need zones all clustered each with 1 animal associated with it. Some indicated they were just traveling, some indicated they were attached to a need zone with only 1 animal associated with that zone. So I come across a group of roe deer, one buck and three does. I understand that need zones have a number of animals associated with it and if you kill all those animals the zone goes away.
